Susanna Spies, President & Founder

Susanna SpiesSusanna started the Comedy Playground program for youth in 2002. It has since grown to teach from the Improv, in Hollywood.

A comic herself, Susanna has performed in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York. She debuted in her one woman show “The Dryer” in July 2012, and plans to bring to a city near you!  This one woman show features over 30 characters played by Susanna herself and received raving reviews! With parents as educators, she always had a passion to teach and developed an effective, original curriculum as a comedy teacher. In Los Angeles, she was both Drama Instructor at The Pilgrim School, Stand Up Instructor in The New Roads School, The Teak Fellowship in New York, Olympic High, Wildwood School, Westside Neighborhood School, Crossroads, and has brought stand up programs internationally into The American School in London. She was invited as the guest speaker at UCLA’s writer’s retreat in Lake Arrowhead, and is the stand up instructor to the Finding Your Voices series at the American Dramatic Musical Academy, and provides programs throughout LA, SF, NY and more!

For six years was Founder and Director of Laughlinks, and since 2009 teaches youth within The Eamon Cannon Comedy Class at Inner-City Arts, located on skid row, Los Angeles.

In March 2009, Variety profiled her as one in ten of the nations top instructors in the Educational Impact Report, and in Jan. 2011 piloted “SSU” Senior stand up at Hollenbeck Palms, Los Angeles and returns for her second year, and provides corporate workshops for executives as well as presentational coaching.
